In the latest poll released by Quinnipiac University, Democratic candidate Terry McAuliffe leads Republican Ken Cuccinelli by 6 points. McAuliffe is up 48-42. The election, which will take place on November 5, 2013, is a contest between two fairly unpopular candidates. McAuliffe's favorability is 34/33 while Cuccinelli is 35/41.
The newest poll in the New Jersey gubernatorial race has Chris Christie leading challenger Barbara Buono 56-36, according to Monmouth University. These results are actually the closest they have ever been. Buono has been trailing anywhere between 30-40 points prior to these results. Maybe Christie's popularity is fading. Unfortunately, there are still some on the progressive side who believe Christie is one of their allies.
In the battle of two mayors of New Jersey, Newark mayor Cory Booker leads Bogota mayor Steve Lonegan 54-38. Booker, who coasted through the Democratic primary, looks to easily become a United States Senator. Booker has his supporters on the right and left for his unwavering commitment to find the middle ground. He has also been criticized for his constant need for attention and media "whoring". But I don't think Booker will fail in his chance to win this election.
